Apple officially announces “Hi, Speed” event for Oct. 13

The company is expected to announce new iPhones, AirPods Studio headphones, a new HomePod Mini, and AirTags

Apple today has finally announced that it’ll be holding an event on October 13 to reveal new products. The event, titled “Hi, Speed” will begin at 10 a.m. PDT. If rumors are any indication, the products to be announced are the new iPhone 12 lineup, Apple-branded AirPods Studio headphones, AirTags, and a new HomePod mini speaker.

Reliable leaker Mark Gurman notes that the “Hi, Speed” tagline is in an indication that the upcoming iPhones will feature 5G. Also, the dark blue background of the event invite sheds light on previous rumors that a new Navy Blue iPhone 12 is on the way!

There had been speculation as to when Apple would officially host its next event where it is expected to announce new iPhones, with rumors stating that Apple would conduct it on October 13. That has now turned out to be true. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple will start taking preorders for those iPhones on October 16 and start shipping them on October 23.

There’s also a bit of confusion as to how Apple will launch these new iPhones. It’s likely that the entire lineup will be announced at the October 13 event, but there are various conflicting rumors making rounds regarding when they will be available.

Apple will also supposedly launch its new AirPods Studio headphones at the event alongside a HomePod mini. The company even stopped selling rival audio products including headphones and speakers on its online and retail stores last month, indicating a launch sooner than later.

As for AirTags, there haven’t been any rumors that specify exactly when Apple will announce them, but due to the increasing intensity and specificity of rumors regarding how Apple’s tile-like trackers will ultimately turn out to be, we can safely assume that the Cupertino company will include them in their October 13 announcement.

The company is also expected to host another event, supposedly in November, to announce one of the first Apple ARM Macs.

On October 13, Apple is expected to announce four new iPhones including a 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. All iPhones will sport an OLED screen and support varying bands of 5G. Furthermore, all iPhones are expected to sport a new flat-edged design.
