Life Time, a popular chain of health and fitness clubs across the US, said in a press release today that it will begin offering Apple Fitness+ for free to its members starting December 19. It’s the first health and fitness club to do so.

“The new offering will complement Life Time’s existing, robust training and fitness programs, elite performers, and comprehensive health and wellbeing services and content offered to its members digitally – wherever they are – and at its more than 150 Life Time destinations across North America,” the press release states.

This isn’t the first time the US-based health and fitness franchise is adopting Apple’s technology to improve its members’ experience. Life Time included Apple’s GymKit enabled cardio equipment, offering connectivity between the Apple Watch and the gym equipment.

Apple’s Fitness+ subscription service went live yesterday offering users a host of guided workouts led by experienced fitness instructors. The service pairs with your Apple Watch to display real-time metrics overlayed on the guided video.

Life Time Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bahram Akradi said “We are rapidly expanding the way the world connects to Life Time through technology – with the same high-quality experiences our brand has been recognized for delivering at our athletic resorts for nearly 30 years. Apple Fitness+ brings additional best-in-class content and variety to the ever-growing digital and omnichannel wellness programs, services, and content we provide our members.”

Apple Fitness+ is only available in certain countries and works only with Apple Watch Series 3 and later. The Apple Watch is central to the whole Fitness+ experience. However, it isn’t necessary to workout through the guidance provided by Fitness+ content.
